Diabetes is a chronic condition that may require frequent glucose monitoring, and the constant burden may be physically and emotionally demanding for individuals. Pharmacists play an essential role in educating people living with diabetes on the use of integrated continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices to minimize the burden of diabetes self-management and have proven to be beneficial in reducing the risk of diabetes-related complications. The PTCE Diabetes Day of Education 2025 was designed to explore how CGM devices and other advanced technologies, such as automated insulin delivery (AID) systems, can empower people living with diabetes to achieve better glycemic control and improve their overall quality of life. The sessions will provide community pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with updates regarding new and emerging advancements in technology for managing diabetes, including various AID systems and ketone monitoring devices, the pharmacist’s role in eliminating barriers to optimal use, and factors to consider while counseling individuals who use these devices. Throughout the day, learners will engage in activities that promote further knowledge of continuous monitoring devices (glucose and ketone devices) and interpretation of data for new diabetes technology. This year’s agenda also incorporates focused panel discussions, in which speakers will share key insights and address commonly asked questions about the use of these devices to support patients living with diabetes in achieving glycemic goals. Several sessions will feature patient counseling video vignettes that illustrate the practical application of CGM devices and integrated systems, focusing on real-world case scenarios and strategies for personalized care.
